Continue to check back as we will be adding resources weekly!
Let us explain where this site is coming from, and why it is such a passion for us. Our niece, Angie, who lives in Florida, has a son, Dillan, with Autism. For years, Dillan was misdiagnosed. The family went through trying a variety medications that weren’t helping; yet they couldn’t explain why he “wasn’t acting NORMAL!” The Doctors couldn’t agree on a diagnosis so each new doctor would switch his meds yet again. Does any of this sound like your situation or a situation you know someone else has endured?

Angie took charge and said “Enough is Enough!” and took over Dillan’s case. She put together a book on Dillan that details every single Doctor, their treatment and drug plan, and the many test results. Everything is sorted and organized in sections. Of course now, Angie has not one book, but many books broken into segments of Dillan’s life. If you ask for something she has it, she knows where it is and can lay it out for review within minutes! Due to her ability to prepare such documents and organize her son’s life she was able to apply for SSI and Dillan received it on the first application! YES – First try!

Today she is a full time mom caring for Dillan and helping parents get the resources needed. She has been, and continues to be, passionate about helping other parents in similar situations get the assistance and resources they need the first time!

While talking with Angie, we have been discussing a great deal about the programs offered and not offered! Angie told me about the Family Café conference.

I didn’t go down there as a vendor but as an Aunt that wanted to learn as much as possible about Autism and other disabilities and to see what, if anything, we could do about it. Because Dillan did well in Respite care, I was able to attend quite a few of the workshops.

We also have friends that have children who have been diagnosed with Autism and Sensory Integration Disorder. The more we realized how many families this affected, the more driven we were to develop this site!

We hope to offer you a common place to feel secure in speaking about your situations and offering other families help, tips, new information, or just a listening ear that helps you get through even a 5 minute period of time. You know what I’m talking about; sometimes 5 minutes of peace and quiet can be worth more than gold … so bookmark this site and come on back and check out what we have to offer.

While at the Family Cafe' conference, I was able to meet and talk with each of the Vendors and Autism Speaks. I was fortunate to meet and speak with Grace Rodriguez who is the 2005 Walk Co-Chair for NAAR of Palm Beach County Florida. Grace was kind and answered all of my questions. Today the walk is run by Autism Speaks.

We look forward to meeting each one of you at the many events that we will be attending in the future. Just look for our booth!

We thank you for your time, and we look forward to hearing from you, if you have questions – feel free to contact us at any of our e-mail options on our contact us page.
